Doctors
He has interests in oncology, lifestyle medicine and paediatrics. Outside of his work as a GP, he enjoys spending time with his family, running and playing cricket.
Verity is currently on maternity leave.
Dr McClure has Extended Skills in Urgent Care Medicine. He holds an Emergency Medicine Certificate from the Australian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM) and is certified in Advanced Life Support (ALS2) and Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST).
Jane remains on extended leave at this stage.
Cormac has extensive experience with a solid primary care background in semi-rural and suburban primary care. A generalist at heart, he has special interests in skin cancer and minor procedures, and chronic disease management (especially cardiovascular medicine).
A graduate of the University of Sydney, she has most recently been working as a senior Emergency doctor in the Mersey hospital. She feels privileged to care for a variety of patients in all aspects of medicine, particularly paediatrics, women’s health and indigenous health. She enjoys helping people take steps toward a healthier life and is particularly interested in working with females in sport.
When not working, she is out adventuring, growing food and studying permaculture and sustainability.
Meagan is currently on maternity leave.
Ellie has a Diploma of Skin Cancer Surgery and has been awarded an Advanced Clinical Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine & Surgery and Advanced Clinical Certificate of Dermatoscopy with the SCCA.
She relocated with her husband Schwann for the cooler climate, with a love of the outdoors including bushwalking, snorkeling and kayaking.
David initially commenced General Practice at Newstead in 2021 and we’re really excited that he has recently returned. He’s also working part-time as a doctor with Hospital in the Home.
He has also worked in many hospitals across Australia over the past 7 years, though is most passionate about general practice for the variety and opportunity to provide holistic care.
Tousif is interested in skin, chronic medical illness, geriatric health and emergency medicine. When he’s not working, he keeps busy cooking, traveling, socialising with friends and enjoying family time as much as possible.
Karinna has an interest in paediatrics, women’s health, and is a keen runner, who races at an elite level.

She is excited to have recently moved back home after spending a year traveling around Australia and working in Aboriginal Health Services.
Dr Rad is registered to use Focussed Psychological Strategies, providing psychotherapy for a range of conditions, particulary those with complex mental health conditions, Veterans and refugees experiencing psychological trauma.
Dr Rad has a strong interest in Veteran’s health, refugee health, chronic disease management and enjoys all aspects of general medicine. He is also fluent in Farsi and Dari language. He joined Newstead Medical with his wife Ellie, settling down to a cooler life in Launceston, with a love of gardening and the outdoors.
Zeenath is currently on maternity leave.
Following her graduation she attained a Master of Public Health in Melbourne, and outside of work she enjoys travelling and exploring new places.
Outside of work, Dr Kamal is an avid music lover.
After finishing his medical studies in Rotterdam and working in Emergency medicine for two years, he completed GP training in the Netherlands before arriving in Australia to work in rural Victoria and on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. He has recently relocated to Tasmania for his next adventure!
As a true generalist he is happy to take on any problem. When not at work he spends his time with his young family, preferably outside.
He is interested in all aspects of general practice and believes a holistic approach to chronic disease prevention and management is the basis of excellent primary care. He also performs minor skin procedures, ingrown toenail procedures and inserts Implanon devices.
Raised on a cattle station in Far North Queensland, patients find him down-to-earth and very easy to talk to when discussing their medical concerns. He has a young family and is excited to have recently settled in Tasmania.
In her clinical practice she sees a wide variety of acute and chronic disease presentations and provides preventive care. She also has a special interest in women’s health, travel medicine, mental health and palliative care.
In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga and gardening.
Maryam is competent across all areas of General Practice, with a background in aesthetic medicine and an interest in procedures. She is accepting new patients.
Apart from English Dr Rao can converse in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking their dogs, cooking and reading.
Dr Donovan also finds great satisfaction in chronic disease management and caring for older patients. She is committed to a patient-centred, holistic approach, and values building supportive, long-term relationships with those in her care.
Originally from Hobart, Dr Donovan completed medical school and junior doctor training in Launceston and is pleased to continue her work within the local community.
Outside of work, she enjoys baking, crochet, cross stitch, and exploring Tasmania’s bushwalking trails.
Her clinical interests include women’s health and pregnancy, diagnosing and treating skin conditions, Urgent Care, mental health and paediatrics. She also loves the challenge of managing chronic conditions.
Outside work she is a mum of two young kids who keep her busy at home. She enjoys traveling with her family, cooking, dancing and gardening in her leisure time.
She’s now moved into general practice and is passionate about providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. While interested in all aspects of general practice, has special interest is women’s and children’s health.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family & friends, reading books and cooking.
Outside of work she enjoys reading, being out in nature, dog walking and playing table tennis.
Trent has an interest in musculoskeletal and sports medicine as well as chronic disease management and is dedicated to shared decision-making.
Outside of medicine he enjoys all kinds of outdoor adventure sports including paragliding, trail running, rock climbing and skiing, amongst others.
Other Staff
Doug is a highly experienced senior executive having worked in excess of 20 years in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors in diverse roles. He is an authentic leader that promotes passion among colleagues and has proven track record in customer care. Doug is an avid cyclist and spends a good portion of his free time supporting his two sons in their sporting pursuits.
Aleena joined our team as a medical receptionist in 2016. She has completed a Certificate 4 in Business Administration and is currently completing a Double Diploma of Human Resource Management and Leadership & Management. Aleena has over 10 years’ of customer service experience and enjoys the challenges that each day brings. Outside of work Aleena enjoys spending time with her Kelpie’s, going on adventures, and spending time with friends and family.
Emma joined our team in January 2008. She has completed a Diploma of Business and a Diploma of Human Resources. Emma has over 15 years’ experience in medical administration and over 20 years’ experience in the customer service industry. Emma strives to maximise operational excellence, and is passionate about making influential impacts in the workplace. Emma aspires to be a green thumb, and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her young family, running and exploring.
Nyssa joined our team in 2014 and has over 15 years experience working with General Practice. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce in 2004 and is a member of CPA Australia. She enjoys finding innovative ways to deliver the highest quality healthcare to our patients.
When she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, horses and spending time in the garden.
Natalie started her nursing carer at the LGH. She has been working for Newstead Medical as the Clinical Nurse Manager since Dec 2020 before this she was the Clinical Coordinator at Kings Meadows Medical Centre. Natalie enjoys playing netball and riding dirt bikes in her spare time. Natalie loves working in General Practice as she loves the interaction with the patients and getting to know them and their stories.
Sarah joined our team in 2017. She has almost 9 years’ experience in medical administration and 10 years’ experience in customer service. Sarah enjoys working in a team environment and loves helping people.
Emma joined our team as a medical receptionist in 2018, and in 2022, took on the role of Office Coordinator. Emma has over 12 years’ of customer service experience and enjoys the challenges that each day brings. She is proud of the relationships that she has with the team, and the support she is able to provide each day.
Cin joined our team in 2013 as a Medical Receptionist and in late 2023 took on the role of Office Coordinator. Cin has over 12 years of experience working in customer service and is proud of the positive influences she has on the team. Outside of work Cin enjoys going on adventures with her friends, going to the beach and spending time with her family.
Kirilly joined our team in 2023 as a medical receptionist, and in mid-2024, took on the role of Office Coordinator. Kirilly has over 14 years of customer service experience and enjoys challenges that stretch her knowledge and skills. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends.
Ingrid joined our team as a medical receptionist in 2023 and took on the role of Office Coordinator in 2024. Ingrid has over 15 years of customer service and management experience and welcomes the challenges that working in the medical field brings. Outside of work, Ingrid can be found in her garden or hanging out with her animals.
Dr Katherine Fuller joined Newstead Medical in 2023 and works with us on Mondays.
Dr Zara Gray joined Newstead Medical in 2025 and works with us on Wednesdays.
Dr Bianca Crighton joined Newstead Medical in 2025 and works with us on Mondays.
Justin is a locally raised and University of Tasmania-trained Exercise Physiologist who has joined the team full-time as part of NewWorkHealth.
He is passionate about the benefits of exercise of any level in health, across a full spectrum of conditions, with particular interests in injury rehabilitation and cardiovascular conditions.
Outside of work he enjoys hockey and cricket, travel, and reading.
